agree  MJ Barber: I'd go for "stylish" rather than "fashionable". Snappy to me suggests they dress well, with flair, not slavish followers of fashion (for the record, at least three of the gay men I know look like they get dressed in the dark :) )

  -> thank you, you are right, off coarse, you don't have to follow fasion trends to be stylish. although one could argue that to be stylish you have to be aware of style trends :-) afterall someone who was dressed 80's snappy would be stared at today :-)

It normally would mean well-groomed and sharp, or smart, as in smartly dressed. Usually in such a way to attract attention, either to attract others sexually but usually professionally so.

In the context of this example stated, metrosexual.

The point being that it is not only how they dress, ie dressing fashionably, but the reason why they dress so.
