English to English translations [PRO] Tourism & Travel
English term or phrase:Japanese Samurai
I would like to know whether orginary English speaking people know Date Masamune who was the founder of Sendai clan in Japan.
Of "English-speaking people", I think only those who are Japanese history students, scholars or "Japanophiles" would know of Date Masamune.
I was born and raised in Japan and know about its history, but I'm quite certain that if I were to ask English-speaking persons who Date Masamune was, the answer would overwhelmingly be "no."

I notice that your subject is tourism & travel. If you are, perhaps, working on a brochure or travel itinerary which includes the birthplace and history or Date Masamune, I think English speakers would be very interested to learn about him. Japan has a rich and fascinating history.
Thank you Tony.
For traslation, I have to ask this question. I am sorry to trouble all of you. And I tried to edit my typos, but could not due to an error. Thank you again. I have to be careful.

Hi Sheila thank you very much for your ansower. I heard that the Japanese film "The last Samurai" had created a commotion when first time it was shown and everything Japanese always did and does draw special attention in Europe. How do you think about it?
Reviewing the question again, could have two main answers...
1- Yes English people know about Dedicated Samurai class.
2- Yes they did and this is the information regarding the famous 伊達 政宗 Masamune.
:) ? Please correct me if I missed a point. Thank you in advance. ありがとうございます
Explanation: I don't think the average English speaker would know the name, no. You would need to prefix it with "Samurai" - that would make it clear
