Explanation: Un bulldozer ou bouteur en français du Canada, selon la recommandation officielle; en France, la recommandation de 1986 a été retirée du Répertoire terminologique de la Commission générale de terminologie et de néologie dans son édition de 2000, ce terme n’ayant pas réussi à s’imposer est un tracteur à chenilles équipé d'une lame orientable et qui sert à pousser des matériaux ou démolir. Le bulldozer est une pelle niveleuse montée sur un tracteur à chenilles.

Bull is French logic in full swing. In English we abbreviate it to "dozer", which puts us in something of a quandry when dealing with a "calfdozer" (a small bulldozer, presumably of either gender). Not that I have yet encountered a calf in French.
using just "bull" certainly fits with the (sometime annoying) French habit of lopping the end off certain words, forgetting or not realising that the new word can have another meaning in the original language! (eg using "week" instead of "week-end"!)
