Art/Literary - Linguistics / Description of history of the passe simple
French term or phrase: On l’eclua
Hi all,

I am writing an essay on the history of the passe simple and cannot find a definition for one of the examples an author uses. Unfortunately, he uses the example out of context, but he is giving examples of irregular formation of the passe simple (verbs that do not end in -er).

On l’eclua is the first example he gives and I'm not even sure of the infinitive, which makes it a bit difficult to look up. I need to give glosses in footnotes in the essay, so need to find a definition or omit the example.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
