I have a list of subjects studied by a student teacher at the Durbanse Onderwyskollege. One of them is:
Skoolbiblioteekwese en ontvangsklasse.
School librarianship and reception classes? I have no concept of what 'ontvangs' means here.

"Ontvangsklasse" refers to the year prior to the proper first school year.

As changes to course contents and the names of course modules were made from time to time, it would be helpful to know in which year the diploma was issued and whether it is a Junior or Senior Primary Education Diploma. I would like to check with the person who was head of that department at the time, to be doubly sure. |
