Explanation:
Firstly, one writes an exam or presents oneself to an exam. The University only awards a diploma degree if and when one has successfully PASSED the exam. To obtain the diploma/degree one must pass the exam AND satisfy the requirements of the Statutes on the University. e.g passing an exam with 50% may not be sufficient for the awarding of the diploma/degree, but sufficiently for a different study.
