  -> No, medicine (n.) can also be used to refer to the science of medicine., which is the treatment and study of illnesses and injuries (Longman's Dictionary of Contemporary English).

agree  Samuel Murray: I disagree with LJ Wessel -- the term "Medicine" is also used to refer to the academic subject. Saying "He studied Medicine" means he studied medical science, not just medicines.
