بني مدرج مسرح قرطاج أوائل القرن الثاني وشهد تحويرات عديدة في القرن الثالث والرابع قبل أن يقع هدمه في سنة 439 من طرف الوندال وقد أسندت دائرة مدارجه التي يمتد قطرها نحو 106 مترا على منحدر ربوة الاوديون, بينما يتكون طولها أكثر من 50 مترا , وقـد حليت كوات خلفيتها بتماثيل شاهقة فيما بني كل الهيكل بالرخام الابيض والكذال .

= تقع هذه التربة قبالة مستشفى عزيزة عثمانة وهي منحصرة ببناية دار الباي وقد تم بناؤها خلال القرن الحادي عشر هجري / السابع عشر ميلادي. وقد استخدمت لبناء الواجهة حجارة الكذّال الكلسية وحجارة الحرش الرملية ويتضمن الشكل الخارجي للقبة قلنسوه تشبه في الآن نفسه الهرم والمخروط ونصف الدائرة. أما داخل البناية فان الجدران مكسوة بمربعات من الخزف تعلوها نقوش على الجبس.

The facade is in kadhel (limestone) and hirch (sandstone). The top of the building has a shape that is between a pyramid, a cone and a half-sphere.

Asker: Hi Sam, I found Kedel limestone. Not many sources on google, but among them a couple of books and a paper about the Carthage amphitheatre.
