Those who curse... Explanation: It's hard to tell without context..but the only meaning that comes to mind (which is also close to the asker's understanding) are those curse, most likely Muslims and Islam, and hence the meaning comes closer to apostates, as the asker understood it. |

Sabians Explanation: it depends on the transliteration, if spelt with sad, i.e sabi-in, then they are the Sabians (Sabeans) a religious group from lower Iraq (arabic plural also Subba) of a similar believe as the Zoroastrians, mentioned in the Qur'an in Surah 2, verse 62, and Surah 5, verse 72. |

Sabaeans or Sabeans Explanation: Sabean (from Greek sabaios, ancient kingdom in southwestern Arabia), of or relating to the ancient people and kingdom of Saba (Sheba) flourishing in southwestern Arabia from about 950 to 115 B.C. The Arabic name/word, as-Sahb'-oon, or as-Sabi-a (Sabaean), is explained as those who leave their religion for another; or those who worship planets and claim to be descendents of Noah. A 'second' possibility means: renegade; apostate (as you mentioned); members of a Judeo-Christian Gnostic sect. There's also the VERY remote possibility (if it was not for your explanation) that it is: SABINES, members of an ancient people of the Apennines northeast of Latium (Italy). Webster's 3rd International Dictionary, al-Mu'jam al-WaSeet Arabic-Arabic dictionart, al-Mughni al-Waseet Arabic-English and Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary (10th Edition). |
