Regulations for the Examination Hall at Göteborg University

The examination hall is a workplace for those who are examined, and for their exam supervisors. The exam supervisors have been given the task by the University to supervise that the regulations and ordinances are complied with so that there is a good work environment, and that the examination will be valid.

A condition that is necessary for the exam supervisors to be able to make sure that the examination situation is good is the unconditional demand that all who sit an examination shall follow the exam supervisor’s instructions at the time of the examination.

It must be calm and quiet in the examination hall. No other activities are to take place during the time that the examination is in progress. The examinee who during the examination period has other matters or responsibilities that he/she has to carry out or has other requirements of a special nature are to be referred to their own university department. Do not forget to switch of mobile ‘phones! Please place them in a bag or briefcase in the same way as with other prohibited study aids such as hand computers.

13. Duty of the person who has created a disturbance to leave the Hall.
It is the duty of the person who has created a disturbance to leave the Hall. It is the exam supervisor who decides if there are reasons to eject an examinee on the grounds of creating a disturbance.

14. Suspicion of cheating
If cheating or other event that there can be reason to report occurs then the exam supervisor must always write down the name and ID-number of the examinee(s) together with a description of the course of events.

15. Sanction
It is the exam supervisor’s responsibility to report an examinee to the relevant department if there is a suspicion of cheating.
The department will then remit the matter to the Dean together with the exam supervisors report, exam paper and any study aids.
If the examinee has disturbed or hindered a written examination then that report will be remitted to the Dean.
The Dean can give a warning or remit it to the Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board find that the criteria for cheating have been found then the Board will decide on a disciplinary measure that can either be a warning or suspension (maximum of six months). A suspension always implies a suspension of studies, for example, with regard to the right to receive study grants. Anyone who has been suspended from studies is in principle obliged to repay the study grant for the period covered by the suspension. The university will inform CSN of such a decision.

Please note that certain forms or cheating fall under the criminal code and can lead to prosecution (for example, forgery of documents, false witness).
