Arabic term or phrase: حبات
دخلت عليها في المطبخ، وإذا هي تسلق بالقدر عدة حبات من البطاطس، وفجأة وإذا بها تخرج ثمرة بطاطس من الماء المغلي

I just want to check it is talking about whole potatoes, not pieces (and maybe "pellet" is the closest translation?)

Also, if you could mention if this is a particularly dialect, that would also be very helpful.

Explanation:
The words ثمرة ثمرات حبة حبات are to be ignored because they just express the "number". It's not a dialect. It's dictated by the linguistic requirements of the Arabic Language. In English, we just add an S at the end of a word to make it plural, but in Arabic not all words lend themselves to this simple process, that's why we have to add more words to express the number.
