In fact both are correct. The African Arab states (Egypt -Sudan etc used to use al-qawmi for the English terrm (National) to describe thier national football team for an example, while the Gulf states use the word watani in stead. However even Sudan and Egypt seems to have now changed to (al-watani) as al-majlis al-watni for the national assembly and al MUTAMAR AL- WATANI FOR THE NATIONAL CONGRESS ,and in Egypt they now use Watani for their national footbool team and al-hizib al- watani for the former ruling party . There forethe the rterm al-qawmi seems to be phased out in favour of al- watani ..Good luck & bless u |
