I do not know the answer to your question, but what I know is that this term is part of a professorial title. The full title is
أسـتاذ مبرز
It is used in medicine as well as in other fields, and it is commonly abbreviated to one word only مبرز. Unfortunately, I do not know the proper translation in English. It may be easier to find it in French and then retrofit that into English.
