Arabic term or phrase:اساس
يتم اجراء اختبار سمع كاساس لوظيفة السمع لديك
يتم اجراء اختبار للابصار كاساس لوظيفة الرؤية لديك
Of course, I know that اساس is "foundation", "basis", and also "key". In this context, then, would it be correct to translate it as a verb - "verify", or "determine"?
"A hearing test will be conducted to verify/determine your hearing capacity".
I'm a little curious about why the second part of the sentence even appears. Why else would they conduct a hearing test if not to verify if one can hear :)? They do go on to say that this test is standard practice with patients of this illness (TB), treated with typical drugs - ممارسة قياسية لمرضى الذين يجرى علاجهم بعقاققير قياسية لعلاج مرض السل المقاوم لعدة عقاقير - so maybe they imply a possibility of hearing loss, and therefore a need for verification of its existence? Is that what it is? Anyone with a medical background might offer insight here?
