Explanation:
From what I understand, the city Alexandria, in Egypt, is called "iskindriyya" and is derived from iskinder, or Alexander, after Alexander the Great.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

In Arabic, Alexander the Great is الإسكندر الأكبر, \'iskandir al-\'akbar.
