For your info, the word Ma'zoun is used in Egypt for sure and maybe in some African countries but not in all Arab countries where they use Sheikh or Shaykh.

Well Djibouti marriage certificates and I am sure other certificates are in both Arabic and French... Unfortunately the one I was working on did not have the Arabic equivalent for Madoun Charia.. Anyway I know it now thanks to you guys!

literally Ma'zoun means the authorized person and in Islam it is the Ma'zoun who usually is a sheikh, the official person to contract, attest and legalize the marriage .
