Arabic term or phrase: عدوان على مشاعر
للأديان الإلهية الثلاثة قداستها وللأفراد حرية إقامة شعائرها دون عدوان على مشاعر بعضهم أو المساس بحرمتها

offending each other's feelings
Explanation:
There seems to be some confusion here on the singular and plural forms of the following:

s. شعيرة ritual, pl. شعائر rituals
s. شعور feeling, sentiment, pl. مشاعر feelings

And then there's المشعر الحرام, which has nothing to do with the above. It's just a name of a site in Muzdalifa near Makkah. Some Islamic scholars refer to all of Muzdalifa as المشعر الحرام.

Therefore I agree with Liliane and Ibrahim (but I think "offending" is more appropriate here than "assaulting").

I believe it is more indicative, although it seems to be figurative.
