Armenian to English translations [PRO]
Names (personal, company)
Armenian term or phrase: Agderian
This is my last name and I've been trying for a while to find out what it means. It is an Armenian last name.
Nick Agderian
English translation:Agh+Dar
Explanation:
Dear Nick,

"Agdar" didn't ring any bells to me, so this is just a guess.
Some Armenian words/names have Turkish origins, so this might be the case, too: "agh" in Turkish means "white", while "der" might be a mutation of original "dar" which means "mountain". So, this way, we arrive to White Mountain. You might as well do some digging for some White Mountain (Agh Dar) in former Western Armenia, now the north-eastern part of Turkey. Good luck.

I found out yesterday after submitting that question that Agderian was actually Americanized by my great grandfather when he came here. The original name was Ejdaharian. Does this help?
