Bulgarian to English translations [PRO] Art/Literary - General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters | | Bulgarian term or phrase: ne si stoi wkusti | Context: "Ima i po-malko swetlina otkaolkoto az bih iskala, no Maria ne si stoi wkusti, za da go zabelezhi."
This is from an e-mail message written in Latin letters. The transliteration is less than consistent, so I'm not even sure if "wkusti" is "вкусти" or "вкъщи." |

The full translation:
There is also less light than I would like [it to have], but Maria does not stay at home [or: does not spend so much time at home], to notice it.

The author seems to imply that Maria should be spending more time at home since she tends not to notice obvious things (say, that there is not enough light).

The language used is neutral, rather than colloquial, so I do not think that phrases characteristic predominantly of spoken English would be particularly appropriate here. There are such phrases in Bulgarian as well: "не се свърта вкъщи" for example, but I do not see any of those phrases used in this e-mail (as quoted above). |
