(most literal translation) Other possible renditions, in my view, would be: The much awaited resplendent (dear, precious) sunshine appeared yesterday and is now with us. The sun finally came up yesterday and we have sunny weather now. The sun, so bright and warm, came up to us yesterday and we have the sunny weather back again. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2002-06-08 08:33:11 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Our most valued colleague and distinguished translator/interpreter going by the name slavist has made a very relevant point in her comment hereon and I do appreciate her contribution deeply. What your sentence could also very well mean might be something along the lines: \"Our (or my) dearest, beloved, dearly loved, precious one came back (or came to me, or came to us, or arrived, or returned) yesterday and is now with me (with us).\" or \"My sweetheart came to stay with me yesterday and is now with me.\" or \"My bonnie lass/lad arrived (returned) and is (staying) with me now.\" It all depends on context indeed. Even in that case, it is still possible to use sunshine as in the old love song: You\'re my sunshine, My only sunshine, You make me happy When nights are grey, You\'ll never know, dear, how much I love you, Please don\'t take My sunshine away. Best wishes for lots of sunshine in your days and nights and in slavist\'s life, too, regardless of what exactly you meant to ask with your query. Both love and sunshine are very precious and most essential indeed. |
