"... a la casa Calvet, Gaudí va desinhibir-se amb més intensitat a la façana posterior que a la principal. Mentre que a la del carrer Casp empra un llenguatge neobarroc —sempre segons el seu punt de vista, sense deixar-se oprimir per les rigorositats de l’estil— a la cara que dóna a l’illa interior utilitza un llenguatge més lliure, i troba una molt bona solució al problema de les galeries. La solució recorda una mica a la del Palau Güell, potser també per l’orientació cara al mar, sense ser ben bé igual.

La font de rocalla
La fusteria de la façana posterior és verda i, curiosament, les persianes —nombroses i estretes, en forma de finestrons amb costelles— es dobleguen de dues en dues. A les terrasses interiors dels dos principals s’hi troben les famoses jardineres de disseny gaudinià, que també van ser utilitzades com a safareigs, i la font de rocalla. Actualment no hi ha jardí, però es conserven fotografies d’època amb una profusa vegetació."
