Tech/Engineering - Construction / Civil Engineering
Catalan term or phrase: "xino"
I have the term "xino" used in inverted commas in the sentence: Constatà que el "xino" va fregar contra les parets del forat de l'ascensor... The context is an industrial accident report relating to renovation building work. Other than it being a castilianism for "xinès", I can't find what it would be in this context. Any help gratefully received!

Explanation:
It is hard to say without any context. In Catalan it sounds like "the Chinese guy washed the walls..." but, it might very well be that a mechanical part of the elevator itself is called "chinese" and that that part rubbed against the walls causing an accident. I am not an "elevator" specialist (:) )and unfortunately this is all the help I can give.

Have a nice day.

Hello Milena! Moltes gràcies for your suggestion. I was coming to that conclusion as well. Unfortunately there isn't very much other context to give. The text relates to an accident caused by a service lift/elevator giving way. Any reference to a Chinese person didn't make any sense, hence my confusion!
