The above isn't my context (taken from the web), but it's possibly more clear, as mine is this:
A més a més es va elaborar un llistat de 250 matèries optatives, classificades per: a) itineraris formatius, b) distribució tancada per cursos i c) distribució lliure.
Obviously I can translate it literally, but I'd like to understand what is meant:-)

The idea seems to be that you can't redistribute the hours to another year or cycle (they have to be done within the designated timeframe). |
