I'm pretty sure I'm reading these letters correctly. This term appears in a list of laboratory tests done on a patient hospitalized for congestive heart failure, but with a number of other serious problems including diabetes and anemia. In the list of tests, we have preceding this " glucosa ... urea ... creatinina ... colesterol ... triglicèrid ... and then *Urat* 465 * ?mol/L [<340] ... followed by ferro, bilirubina, AST, ALT, GGT ... " and so on.

The ?mol/L may be their way of writing " µmol/L ' ... I'm not quite sure.

The report is from a hospital in Catalunya.

What is this Urat and how do we say it in English?

agree  neilmac: ¿Pero que pinta la "t" al final de "urat"? estoy en ascuas...

agree  Zareh Darakjian Ph.D.: Yes. While strictly speaking, urat = urate, in medical paralance it often stands for "uric acid". The reason may have to do that what matters in gout is the "anion" which forms crystals, and not the whole acid molecule itself.
