"fàbrica de maó"== brickwork Explanation: Hi. I have inadvertently hidden my answer by experiementing with one of the buttons on the page :-( Here it is again!: "fàbrica de maó"== brickwork Hi. The Diccionari de la Enciclopèdia Catalana defines "maó" as adobe or sun-dried brick (presumably in contrast to cinder-block or similar). I have the feeling that this is describing a "Modernista" building. Am I right? Here is an excerpt from course description bulletin from the Escola Tècnica d'Enginyeria Industrial de Barcelona: "Genescà, Ramon: Recomanacions per al reconeixement, la diagnosi i la teràpia d'estructures de fàbrica de maó." Anway. You could also use "brick masonry", but if it is a decorative element as well as being structural, I would use "brickwork".
