Chinese term or phrase: 天路之旅
Hi! guys
A customer asked me to translate the following words into English:
天路之旅 --- 走进神秘的青藏高原
青海湖 --- 中国最美的湖泊
塔尔寺 --- 黄教圣地
I was puzzled at the saying:天路之旅.
"A paradise journey"???
As a traveller you can hardly say it's paradise, given the harsh condition of Qinghai-Tibet plateau.
"Heavenly journey"???
It may indicate something about death.
Please help me solve this problem.
Thanks!

Explanation:
I think "天路" means here a road with high altitudes, but not a road to the paradise or heaven.
In Chinese, "天" sometimes means sky. "天路" is a metaphor, referring to the road as being "high in the sky".

I found in a dictionary that "黄教" is "Shamanism" in English.

I cannot rule out the religious indication to "天路", but "天" itself has implict or explicit religious indications in Chinese culture, including Tibetan culture.

Thank you Doctor Tang.
I have a second thought, isn't 天路 has somewhat religious indication, sinc e Lhasar is Mecca to Tibetan Buddhist.

a route beyond human imagination

Explanation:
to travel on a divine path?

a route beyond human imagination (magnificent, mysterious, and unforeseeable, never a walk to your backyard)

Martin, In my humble opinion, "soul journey" may sound religious. Borrowing from Weiping's work how about "trip to the roof of the world" or simple "on the roof of the world?" 世界屋脊之旅?

"soul journey" may also be a "virtual tour" but yours means real.
