十九世紀之初,有位名叫馬爾薩斯(Thomas Malthus)有句名言:
[地球上人口繁衍能力越來越多,遠遠超過土地增加食物的供給能力,糧食短缺所造成的旱災,必定會降臨到人類身上。]

Does anybody know the exact version of the quote? I think it's from here http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext03/prppl10.txt
But I'm not sure. The closest I'm able to find is this:

"Though the produce of the earth might be increasing every year, population would be increasing much faster, and the redundancy must necessarily be repressed by the periodical or constant action of misery or vice."

and this:

"the period when the number of men surpass their means of subsistence has long since arrived, and that this necessity oscillation, this constantly subsisting cause of periodical misery, has existed ever since we have had any histories of mankind, does exist at present, and will for ever continue to exist, unless some decided change take place in the physical constitution of our nature."

A bit off the mark.
