Maybe I should clarify. Box is the word usually used in domestic situations. In your house you will have a distribution box which sends different wires out to different rooms in the house.
In commercial situations, with larger premises and more cables, a box is usually too small and they use a 'board'. Hence I said it is not usually called a box
