Chinese term or phrase: Meng Hu
What does "Meng Hu" mean?
A German text I am translating gives the translation as "fierce little tiger", but my web research only shows tiger or fierce tiger.

Is Meng Hu a martial arts figure?

Thanks for your help

猛虎 (fierce tiger or fearless tiger) is often used to describe a MAN who is very brave and fearless. Tiger is believed as the bravest animal. To be like a tiger is a compliment.

If one uses a \"little\" (小) at the beginning, it refers to a brave young boy.

Again, Meng Hu (猛虎) means fierce tiger or fearless tiger. It is commonly used to describe a man who is very brave, fearless and can overcome all the difficulties. If it is used in the Chinese army, such as Meng Hu Squad or Meng Hu Platoon, for the same reason. If you are useing it for describing the soldiers, please drop the word \"little\", because the soldiers are around 20 y/o. If you want to use it to name a vehicle, I never heard of it, however I can imagine that they meant this vehicle is a very tough and sturdy machine.

Bernie,

Hahaha... thank you for mentioning it, now I see the similarities in our photos. We must have similar minds, too. ;-)

By the way, the word \"Hu\"(tiger) carries negtive a meaning when it is used on a woman. When a woman is dipicted as a tiger, that means she is ferocious, shrewd, and ready to tear her man into pieces. When a Chinese lady was born in the Year of Tiger, she will not like to talk about it because the Chinese people would believe she might carry the personalities of a tigher. You can imagine how hard this is to a Chinese woman in China.

agree  Peter Smith: Some more context would be useful, though. And I can't see any reason to call it 'little'!

agree  Wenjer Leuschel (X): Qiang Long against Meng Hu --- surely both hurt.
