Two possibilities
1. The function is the number of the terms included in the summation. Given an epsilon there exists an N such that for n > N the difference between the finite sum of N terms and the infinite sum of the series (convergence assumed) is less than epsilon, otherwise not guaranteed for n < N terms included in the summation.
2. That the series is convergent is not the question, the function depends on the variable, say x, in the power series, Sigma a_n x^n.
