neutral  Terry Thatcher Waltz, Ph.D.: "fluctuation" indicates a change, but I don't think there is a change involved here; it is just a sensation. "Popple" I have never encountered, and I can't find it on Google with "tumor".

Explanation:
Rod's answer may well be acceptable, but I'm not quite sure about this "gan" -- if it is the perception of the *patient* then his answer of "throbbing" is OK, but usually if we're talking about a doctor feeling part of the patient's body, the doctor would not report a throbbing sensation, although the patient might complain of one. (So, I guess "throbbing" is like v.i. and "pulsate" is like v.t.??? :-) )

\"Throbbing* was one of the pain descriptors we covered when I did a seminar on medical interpreting, so it seems to be sensation confined to the patient, which would require description to the doctor.
