凡吸烟的人，大部曾在一时糊涂，发过宏愿，立志戒烟，在相当期内与此烟魔决一雌雄，到了十天半个月之后，才自醒悟过来。我有一次也走入歧途，忽然高兴戒烟起来，经过三星期之久，才受良心责备，悔悟前非。我赌咒着，再不颓唐，再不失检，要老老实实做吸烟的信徒，一直到老耄为止。到那时期，也许会听青年会俭德会三姑六婆的妖言，把它戒绝，因为一人到此时候，总是神经薄弱，身不由主，难代负责。
