As explained in the documents (links) below, there were two different schools that played an important role in religious processions in Taiwan, long time ago. The members of these schools performed their arts to represent their village. There were schools of music and schools of martial arts. The name of this specific school of martial arts - 同义堂 - refers to loyalty, righteousness or brotherhood.
