Chinese to English translations [PRO] Art/Literary - Religion / Classical Chinese Buddhist literature | | Chinese term or phrase: 啓請賢聖 | | This is given as the second of 'Seven Doors', also given as 明啟請 in another place. The others are: 第一讚戒功徳, 第二啓請賢聖, 第三懴悔罪障, 第四帰依三宝, 第五正受羯磨, 第六説其戒相 and 第七迴向発願. If anyone could point me in the direction of an English version of these, I would be most grateful. This is Classical Chinese transcribed directly into a Japanese text I am translating. |

| | English translation:Respectfully invite the worthiest sages | Explanation: I just recently translated something similar from English to Chinese which contains the term in question.
As for 懺悔罪障, 帰依三宝, 迴向発願, I suggest "Repent sins," "Take refuge in the Triple Jewels," and "Transfer merits and make vows." These are common terms to find in Buddhist books.
The rest three are beyond me. Sorry!
p.s. See p.5 of the English text and the opening of the Chinese.
