I believe “一山有四季，十里不同天”is sometimes used to describe the characteristic climate of the mountain and ravine geography in SW China, the Hengduan Mountains for example (that is the changes with altitude, from the foot of the mountain as you ascend the mountain from the valley floor - from warm humid to cool alpine climate - strongly zonal climate. The strong variations also apply to the ecology and vegetation.)
