Chinese term or phrase: The Swordsman And The Cat
From the book "Zen And the Japenese Culture" How do you interpt the story "The Swordsman And The Cat"

Thank You In Advance!Judith
Judith Marrale
Japanese translation:剣士と猫 kenshi to neko
Explanation:
剣士と猫という(逸)話をどのように解釈しますか?

kenshi to neko to iu ituwa wo dono you ni kaishaku shimasu ka?

I don't think that this was the way that it was written in the original but I have chosen "kenshi" for swordsman, over more modern sounding alternatives, since it seemed more fitting for a zen story.

In case the translation of the title of the story is rather loose you might also write

剣術家と猫についての話はどのように解釈しますか?

kenjutsuka to neko ni tuite no hanashi ha dono youni kaishaku shimasu ka?

(How do you translated the story about the swordsman and the cat).

If you are speaking to a priest or other teacher then you should use

go kaishaku naisaimasu ka
御解釈なさいますか

go kaishaku saremasu ka
御解釈されますか

instead of "kaishaku shimasu ka," to be polite
