I don't know if my final comment will come up on your screens at any point -basically I decided on the expedient "CONVICTED", knowing that it doesn't contain the full meaning, but in the context, it was obvious that the conviciton was final and valid. THANKS VERY MUCH ALL OF YOU - I would divide the points evenly for the time you spent.

I am for "final verdict/finally sentenced person" - "lawfully" has two different meanings: "according to law" and "finally (sentenced)" see seznam.cz/slovnik

Thank you, I understand the meaning of pravomocně, but I'm trying to find a short, succinct way of working it into the text and it also appears (just now I've come upon it) in a table, so it has to be one word - maybe "finally" convicted or "enforceably convicted", but I don't want it to be the person's final conviction because the text deals with reoffenders/recidivists. The term "pravomocně" means that te verdict can not be changed by means/on the ground of regular legal remedy/right of appeal; the sentence/verdict is final - there is only the possibility to use extraordinary legal remedy to reach a change of final verdict. A final verdict is enforceable.

thank you for all the suggestions so far, what I want to say is that the sentence wasn't for instance overturned. here is an example of its use:
Za trestný čin je v této práci považováno kriminální jednání, za které byla osoba pravomocně odsouzena - I don't know, on the one hand it would be enough just to say "convicted", but maybe finally convicted (validly convicted expresses the thought behind it, but doesn't seem right in English) - so again thanks to all but I must think on... Deadline 12 noon tomorrow!
