I. skupina - kontrola - 4 zv�řata,
II. skupina - Depotocin inj. Spofa 5 ml pro toto - 4 zv�řata,
III. skupina - Depotocin inj. Spofa 50 ml pro toto (aplikace rozdělena na tři m�sta) - 4 zv�řata,

This concerns a trial of medication for cows.

"pro toto" looks like Latin, but I would like to know how it's used in Czech.

'in total' would be 'in toto', I believe

If for US consumption then I would stick with the Latin, but I find that UK vets/doctors are less keen.

That's what I THINK (hence my '3' :) ). I have never seen this phrase in anything but a Czech context, but it would sort of make sense ...
If it was the total for all animals, then it would be 'in toto'

However, it seems like quite a step up to administer 50 ml from 5 ml (even though it is in three places), but I don't know anything about this preparation - but take a look at this http://www.cababstractsplus.org/abstracts/Abstract.aspx?AcNo... which might give you a bit more of a pointer

Asker: So they're talking about the total for each animal, rather than the total for all the animals in the group? What a confusing phrase! It should be banned.
