Pokud je tato teorie pravdivá, tak při ústní kompozici a tradici nejde o reprodukci tónu za tónem, ale o vycházení ze vzorů, forem a představených vzpomínek (to znamená, že některé např. melismatické prvky se na určitých místech opakují, což platí i o formách antifon či používaní určitých žalmů na konkrétní tonusy).

plurál je asi správně: Toni
"Lateinisch gibt es zwei mögliche Ableitungen: Tritoni oder Tritonus (mit langem u). Da Tritonus aus dem Griechischem abgeleitet ist (totnos - drei Ganztöne), würde ich vom Sprachgefühl Tritonus sagen (kann mich aber auch täuschen). Im Wikipedia-Artikel wird allerdings Tritoni verwandt - allerdings auch, ohne das zu hinterfragen."
