Explanation:
he is fantastic/brilliant/very good at many other things (in many other areas) but a trustee he is never going to be (for sure) (at least) that is what he says.

Not sure about the trustee though.
And I am not really able to help you with 'i den retning' without context.

Out of pure curiosity, because I have been following you questions for the last two days - what are you translating? Sounds like a nightmare ;)
