Danish to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Construction / Civil Engineering
Danish term or phrase: bordursten
Anyone know the technical name for these in English? Den Store Danske says it's a synonym for kantsten (kerbstone) but that's clearly not so in its modern use. See here:
http://www.netfliser.dk/?side=flise®ion=2&fliseid=59
They are used to make a smooth paved channel in walking areas for such as pushchairs, wheelchairs or in a driveway between smaller stones (setts).
The ones in question in my project are between 80-12cm x 30 x 8
At present I've gone for "paving slabs" but if there's a word I've missed from my googling, I'd be happy to know.
Thanks in advance
David

Asker: Thanks David. I considered edging stone and border stone but those terms are used in the UK for stones put around the edge of flower borders and similar. That's not what "bordursten" are used for.

bordure stone

Explanation:
Any reason why you do not opt for this direct translation?

Not all that many Google hits, but worth looking at, I think.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Well, Gitte, I was aware that the Danish word came from the French but the problem with Bordure stone is that few (except the French speakers) would understand it. The translation is of a website so it needs to be a term generally used in the branch.
