build setup seems to be used a lot for IT, but I am not sure that excludes other areas.

I am one of those old-fashioned types that think a 'solution' is an answer to a problem, not just any product, system, construction, setup, design, scheme, you-name-it.
The same goes more or less for 'løsning' - it may be simply the answer to an 'opgave, not an actual problem, but it can often be replaced by a more precise term.
So I translate solution in English and løsning in Danish a little freely.
