This sounds to me like components in an electrical power distribution system. "Tavler" in this context are electrical switchboards and "udstilling" (literally a 'display' I suppose) is usually an exhibition (and never, in my getting on for 30 years experience of Danish) the distribution of 'things').

Making a considered guess on the basis of the minimal information provided, I would say that these are electrical (rather than telephone) switchboards (rather than displays) providing power to stands at an exhibition.

Given the remainder of the text, does this sound completely beside the point?

I don't know - the documents don't provide enough technical detail. I saw mention of "distribution switchboards" on Google: can "udstilling" in any way be translated to mean "distribution" (in the sense that if people can see things, they're being distributed to other people, or is that a very long shot?
