Danish to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Finance (general) | | Danish term or phrase: selvskyldnerkautionserklæring | I know this term has been posted before, and I agree with the suggestions submitted (eg surety, co-signer guarantee), but I want raise a specific issue, therefore it is posted again.
A "kautionserklæring" (similar to a "garantierklæring" is a simple guarantee (in fact sometimes referred to as a "simple kaution."
Therefore I am wondering what the specific meaning of "selvskyldner" might mean here. As it is a more specific term, having a preface, what is the specific meaning of the preface? I would think that "joint and several" as in a "joint and several guarantee (or surety)" would explain it. As it is a guarantee (or surety), but a specific kind.
Could a "personal guarantee" also be called a "selvskyldnerkautionserklæring"? |

8 mins confidence:
28 mins confidence: peer agreement (net): +1 guarantee whereby the guarantor assumes primary liability
Explanation: According to Helle Pals Frandsen's Dansk-Engelsk Juridisk Ordbog:
guarantee whereby the guarantor assumes primary liability
guarantee whereby the guarantor undertakes to hold himself liable as a primary debtor
US: absolute gurarantee; suretyship
(NB denne term er dog ikke længere entydig, da den ofte anvendes som generel betegnelse for kaution, dvs. uden at skelne mellem simpel kaution og selvskyldnerkaution.)

A guarantee is a declaration, so I see no need to translate the erklæring element, apart from the context indicating that it is given, signed or in force etc.
