Danish term or phrase: Almuefyldning
There isn't a lot of context for this. Basically, the text describes a new kitchen (including the type of wood used and so on). The sentence I have problems with is:

Almuefyldning og kantpatinering.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

neutral  David Young: Not general terminology - the adjective "cottage" is a certain style of paneling/panelling which some manufacturers seem to use to make it more "hyggelig" :)

Asker: I decided to write to the client, since this word had create quite a debate. The response was "rustic panelling".

neutral  Gitte Hovedskov Hansen: Fine by me, David. :-) However, I am just wondering whether 'rustic panelling' isn't simply a pleonastic expression. 'Panelling' is old-fashioned in itself, which is what 'almue' refers to, so 'rustic' doesn't expand on the concept. What do you think?

agree  David Young: AmE. paneling. BritE: panelling. This the general term. http://www.longdendoors.co.uk/panelled_doors.php I disagree with Sven's "cottage panel" - this strikes me as a manufacturer's epithet. patinering = patination - new to me. see wikipedia "patina"
