Danish term or phrase: de små årgange
Not quite sure how to translate this.

I de sidste mindst 15 år har de små årgange været et yndet diskussionsemne, ligesom det har været et alment udsagn, at medarbejderne var virksomhedernes vigtigste ressource.

Does it mean 'årgange' in the sense of publications etc. or am I on the wrong track?

Any help appreciated.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks Diarmuid. It has just dawned on me that it could refer to the lack of young people on the job market.

agree  Christine Andersen: Of course! I was just wondering how on earth to explain this, apart from saying that I was one of a whole generation of mothers who only had one child instead of two or three... My son's cohort was one of the very smallest!
