agree  Christine Andersen: In this context, 'are expressed' is probably a god suggestion. The Danish writer could perhaps have written 'kommer til udtryk på' or some other standard expression.

Explanation:
This sems to be a fairly recent addition to the Danish language, but it certainly exists.

I have discussed this with colleagues somewhere - obviously not on KudoZ (and I can´t find my notes on it in the usual place!).

We came to the conclusion that it is used in two ways:

1. to bring up a topic that has not previously been mentioned, to raise the subject (in a group, at a meeting etc.)

2. to formulate or put into words an idea or subconscious feeling
(Social workers use it about getting children or social clients to explain their point of view.)

Italesætte is sometimes seen as a parallel to iværksætte - to put into action, or the necessary process that comes before ´iværksættelse´.
