Danish term or phrase: "degradering"
Context is an employee satisfaction survey and this sentence came up. Otherwise easy apart from the strange use of "degradering" I would have thought this was Degrading or demotion... but it may be an instance of a Danish employee thinking he knows an English word but doesn't and translates what he thinks it is into Danish. Does that make sense? Here's the sentence:
...han bruger løs med firmaets penge til forskellige "prestige" formål, efter sin "degradering"

... and if he had been demoted, what the h*** was he dong using the company's money like water!

Any thoughts/comments?

English translation:demotion
Explanation:
I think it makes perfect sense. The guy has been demoted and is p..... off at that, but he is still in a position to spend the company's money (your text doesn't indicate the level of employment/demotion), so that's what he's doing to get back at those who demoted him. Next thing, of course, he'll get the sack. :D)

Of course. This is what he's doing and as you say, he'll get the push when they find out :-)

I know it sounds way out. But could it be that he uses the money according to whatever prioritizing he places on the use?

Other than that, I would agree with Gitte above.
