Under the terms of many Danish both the employer and the employee contribute to a pension scheme for the employee, and each is allowed tax relief on the contribution.

Table 11.2 shows that in 2002 the pension contributions for staff employed under a collective agreement amounted to 11 per cent of total pay expenses for these employees. What is meant by pension contributions is the employer's contribution and the employee's own contribution.
