Danish term or phrase: ugiftesum
Context: Ugiftesandsynlighed (i kollektiv ugiftesum).

Explanation to "ugiftesum": Er du ugift, kan du sikre din samlever eller dine børn i tilfælde af din død før
dit 67. år. Ugiftesummen er en engangsudbetaling, som kan være op til 400
pct. af lønnen.

The closest I can come is "death benefit" (also known as "survivor benefit"). Definition: The payment made to a beneficiary from an annuity or policy when the policyholder dies. also called survivor benefit.

Do you agree that "death benefit" is the best/most accurate translation, or do you have another suggestion?

death benefit for common-law partners

Explanation:
I completely agree that 'death benefit' is the correct translation of 'ugiftesum' as per the Danish one-time-payment in the original question.
Quoting the official government institution "Service Canada": "The Canada Pension Plan death benefit is a one-time, lump-sum payment made to the deceased contributor's estate." (see URL below)
However, I would go with 'common-law partners' when referring to 'unmarried people' living together in a relationship as this is the commonly used term in England, Canada and USA (apparently Australia does not recognize the term 'common-law marriage/relationship'; instead 'de facto relationship' or 'domestic relationshipg' is used in most places.)
(Brian, 'unmarried people' would also include single people, right?! ;))

Sorry, I meant "...as per the Danish one-time payment definition in the original question." Accidentally left out "definition".
